As a licensed psychotherapist and Reiki Master, I work with people who have lost their footing due to anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, divorce or breakup, chronic illness, compulsive and addictive behaviors, or interpersonal and relationship challenges.
During therapy sessions, I weave IFS, EMDR, mindfulness, and self-compassion therapy into psychodynamically oriented talk therapy.
For as long as I can remember, I have gravitated towards all things related to psychology and spirituality. I attended Vassar College where I completed my B.A. in Psychology and then went on to get my Masters in Social Work at New York University. Between my graduate school internship experiences and the next several years spent at a small mental health agency practicing individual therapy and running groups, I have worked with people suffering from disorders and diagnoses all across the board, including depressive, mood and anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, addiction, codependency, and personality disorders.
In 2011, a painful divorce and not enough self care led to a severe case of burnout and required that I make some significant changes in my life. I began delving into alternative and holistic forms of healing and wellness, including reiki energy healing, breathwork, yoga, meditation, and crystals. I soon became a Reiki Master, completed yoga teacher training, and began exploring the mind-body-spirit connection - and all the ways we are impacted by trauma throughout our lives. Training in EMDR and IFS soon followed. IFS in particular has become the central theme of my sessions. I find it to be a life changing and transformational type of healing. I continue to pursue trainings and am always learning more.
